What Tournaments and Leagues does Focus participate in?
Club volleyball does not have a league like soccer, hockey and other sports. Tournaments are run throughout the season on weekends. Some are one day events (Saturday or Sunday) and some are two day events (Sat/Sun). The tournaments are run by Volleyball BC (or provincial sport governing body) and also other clubs may run tournaments. Teams usually attend 5 to 7 tournaments (including provincial championships)during the regular season. Some teams choose to participate in a post regular season tournament such as the Nationals Open Championships, Emerald City Classic or Memorial Day tournament in mid/late May.
In addition, to tournaments some teams participate in exhibition games and playdays.
Coaches select the events they wish their team to participate in. Amongst their selections they are expected to attend the Provincials and where required, regional championships. Our club encourages teams to attend at least one out of town event during the regular season.
