As a volleyball player, it’s important to know how to remain healthy and in shape during season. Here are our 4 tips to stay healthy during season.
- Make sure you start the season in top physical shape. The off season is not the time to sit on the couch and forget about all the work you put in during season. This is time you can use to get stronger. Many athletes play on a club team to maintain their level of play all year round. Others go to volleyball clinics and camps to help practice skills in the presence of coaches and like minded athletes. Whatever you do, make sure to return, day one, ready to play.
- Rest, both physical and mental. To stay healthy, take care of your body physically- taking care of injuries and work to prevent them as well. Take care of yourself mentally by learning to manage your stress. One way to manage stress is by making smart social choices and maintaining healthy relationships with family and friends.
- Eating right and getting proper nutrition. Make sure you are consuming the right things, getting enough sleep, and staying away from things and situations that can be damaging to your health.
- Balance. Being a student athlete is about balance. Balancing out athletics, extracurricular activities, your school work, and your social life/ family can be a lot. It is important to learn how to prioritize what is most important to you and what will make you happy.
